Nasdaq Composite Rises Friday as Tech Stabilizes Before Earnings
Technology-heavy shares partially rebounded from earlier pressure tied to costly AI projects and high yields.
The Nasdaq Composite closed October 9 at 27,366.17, up about 0.6 percent on the day according to Associated Press. It followed a difficult Thursday session when semiconductor and AI-related shares came under pressure amid concerns about financing and the economics of large data centres.
A one-day improvement in technology stocks does not settle the debate about AI capital expenditures or future software revenue. Earnings forecasts remain strong for semiconductor suppliers, while investors are still evaluating customers' ability to turn expensive computing into sustained cash flows.
The Nasdaq Composite is not the same benchmark as the Nasdaq-100, so point totals and membership should not be interchanged. The performance of a concentrated group of large companies can also conceal weaker returns elsewhere on the exchange.
Watch earnings guidance, interest rates and sector breadth during the next trading week. The reported close is a dated index observation rather than a live NAS100 price or a trading recommendation.
