Pyth Plans to Use Product Revenue for PYTH Token Purchases
The blockchain oracle project outlined a standing token-acquisition mechanism linked to operating income.
CoinDesk reported October 9 that Pyth intended to direct product revenue and certain reserve assets into acquiring PYTH on the market. It cited an existing reserve of roughly 41 million tokens and September annualized project revenue near $11.5 million. Such annualization is a run-rate estimate, not a year's completed income.
A revenue-backed token reserve can align part of protocol activity with treasury accumulation, but its value to token holders depends on issuance, governance, trading liquidity and decisions about future distribution. Purchases and burns are not equivalent, and holding a token does not necessarily confer an equity claim.
The announcement is relevant to the wider debate over whether crypto tokens capture economic value generated by services. Published statements about income should be checked against underlying accounting definitions and on-chain transfers.
Watch implementation and independently verifiable treasury activity rather than assuming that a newly announced programme creates a guaranteed price floor. The report concerns intended operational policy, not a certain future investment return.
